Exploring the realm of holographic portraiture, we enter the world of pulsed lasers, particularly pulsed ruby lasers. Exploring the issues of creating images of living subjects we will look at the use of makeup, skin color and tone under red laser light, of spatial composition, capturing the magic of a moment in time, engaging with your subject, being present for your subject.

A number of Fine Artists have had the opportunity to create images with pulsed lasers. We will look at some of their art and explore the different directions they have each taken and the lengths some of them had to go to gaining access to these powerful lasers.

​

We will look in depth at the work of Ana Maria Nicholson, Co-Founder of the HoloCenter and some of her incredible body of work as well as the pulsed holograms of many other artists.

​

The seminar will be for 90 minutes, followed by 30 minutes of question time.
