The Fine Art of Holography for Curators, Collectors, Artists and Museum professionals
 

This course is designed for art curators, artists, collectors, and individuals interested in learning about this unique art form.

A first-of-its-kind course introducing you to the history of Holographic art. Exploring the technical developments that shaped its early beginnings, students will learn how the first artists began to explore the unique properties of holograms and began to articulate their ideas. As these early artists learned to manipulate Light to create a new form of dimensional art, we saw the formation of collections of holographic art around the world in both museums and private collections. Some of this work is now entering the Art market at the same time as a new generation of Holographic Artists are now exploring with new recording materials, lasers, and creative techniques.

This course will educate you in the Art History of this unique medium as well as provide the information you need to design exhibitions (holograms occupy virtual volumes of space that must be understood and planned for). The lighting required by each different kind of hologram must be considered as you build your exhibition floor plan. You are designing an exhibition containing virtual volumes of imaging space as well as the flow of the audience as they explore the work that can often project many feet into the gallery.

 

Join me as we explore these unique artworks, the early holograms, the emerging Holographic Artists, and the growing number of collectors seeking gems of holographic art.

Holography in the 1980's. The International Holographic Community, International exhibitions, the wave of interest in Holographic Art. The key artists from that era.

Session 4  

Holography in the 1990's, The C Project,  the beginnings of Digital Holography

​​​Session 5  

The new wave of Holographic Artists, Pepper's Ghost and the dilemma of the plethora of Holographic imitators, Digital Holography and Immersive Art.

Caring for and protecting Holograms 

Designing, installing, and lighting Holographic Exhibitions
