Our latest hands-on "Make Your Own Hologram Workshop" with Linda Law will be held at the HoloCenter, 518 Broadway, Kingston, NY12401. In the teaching studio at the HoloCenter you will experience a talk about the History of Holography and Holographic Fine Art followed by the opportunity to create your own hologram.

You will create a three-dimensional sculptural composition that you will record as your own hologram. All participants will leave the workshop with your own composition and hologram.

If you wish you can bring small reflective, non-living objects to be used in the creation of your composition although a wide array of materials will be available for you to work with.

Fee: $120 including a $20 materials fee.

Using our single-beam holographic system with a green diode laser you will record a hologram on new self-developing photopolymer film. This unique experience allows you to watch the holographic image appear as a 3D superimposition over the original composition - producing an unusual "flashing" experience.

This new photopolymer material, in combination with the simplified single-beam holographic system, is making the creation of holographic art much more accessible. Join us to experience this for yourselves and begin your creative journey in the world of Holographic Art.

Course Instructor

The instructor for this workshop is Linda Law, a Holographic and Digital artist involved in Holography since 1975 - in Holographic Research, Fine Art, curating exhibitions of Holograms, teaching classes, and writing about this astonishing medium. Her early days in research at the NY Institute of Technology (where she was the assistant director of the Center for Optics, Lasers, and Holography) exposed her to the cutting-edge of Computer Graphics Research at NYIT’s Computer Graphics Lab, and began a journey toward creating Digital Holograms. These days she is still pushing the envelope as Executive Director of the Center for the Holographic Arts (HoloCenter) and as the Founder of the Virtual Museum of Holography (VMOH). Check out the HoloCenter gallery in Kingston, NY at 518 Broadway, Kingston and our website at www.holocenter.org.
